Paris CDG to the city by coach: a guide for groups

Published

Charles de Gaulle is about 30 km north of central Paris. For a group, a private coach is the simplest way into the city: one meeting point, all the luggage in one place and a drop-off at the hotel door or the nearest coach stop.

Before the flight

  • Send the flight number, terminal and the number of passengers and large suitcases.
  • CDG has three terminals and Terminal 2 is split into several halls (2A to 2G). Check which one your flight uses; it can change on the day.
  • Share a mobile number of the group leader that works in France on arrival.

On arrival

Coaches cannot wait at the arrivals kerb. The usual plan is that the group collects its luggage, gathers at an agreed point in the arrivals hall and the coach comes to the coach area when everyone is ready. Allow 45 to 60 minutes from landing to departure for passport control and baggage, more for large groups or flights from outside the Schengen area.

Pickup is planned around your flight number, so a delay usually moves the pickup time. Long waits beyond the plan may be charged as waiting time.

Into Paris

The drive takes about 50 minutes without traffic and much longer at rush hour. Central Paris restricts where coaches may stop, so some hotels on narrow streets are served from the nearest coach stop a short walk away.

Orly Airport, south of Paris, is closer to the centre: about 18 km and 30 minutes.

The return to the airport

For flights inside the Schengen area, plan to arrive at least 2 hours before departure; for flights outside the Schengen area at least 3 hours. Add the drive and a traffic margin, and agree the hotel pickup time the evening before.
