Ski group transfers in the Alps by coach

Published

A ski group travels with more luggage than any other group, on mountain roads in winter, often on the busiest day of the week. Plan the coach around all three.

Popular transfers to the resorts

  • Geneva to Chamonix: about 85 km, around 1 hour 10 minutes without traffic.
  • Geneva to Zermatt: about 235 km. Zermatt is car-free, so coaches stop in Täsch and the group continues by shuttle train.
  • Lyon Airport to Courchevel and the Three Valleys: a mountain road at the end, allow extra time in snow.
  • Innsbruck to St. Anton and Salzburg to Zell am See: short transfers into the Austrian Alps.
  • Zurich to St. Moritz: about 200 km, around 3 hours on mountain roads.

Skis, boots and boards

Tell us the number of ski bags and boot bags as well as suitcases. A ski group often needs one size larger than the passenger count suggests, or a trailer. In winter, coaches in mountain areas must run on winter tyres or carry snow chains where the law requires them.

Saturday is change-over day

Many resorts, especially in France and Austria, change guests on Saturday. Roads into the valleys can be slow from late morning to evening. Early flights, or arriving on another day, make the transfer shorter and easier to plan.

Long transfers and driver hours

A long airport run in snow, plus waiting for delayed flights, can push a driver close to the legal limit. Our estimate adds a second driver only when the route's driving time or distance is too long for one driver; it cannot foresee snow or late flights, so send your flight times, and the final price we send before any payment shows whether a second driver is needed.
